K1LZ Open letter 3Y0K

K1LZ Open letter 3Y0K

An Open Letter to the DX Community from Krassy Petkov, K1LZ 21 October 2025 As many of you know, it was both my dream and my honor to join the team planning to activate 3Y0K Bouvet Island in February 2026. To make this possible, I recruited K3JO,LU9ESD, RN5M, and JT1CO to join me in this effort, and I personally contributed $120,000 to cover both their participation and mine. In addition, K3JO, LU9ESD, RN5M, and I built all the Yagi vertical antennas, towers, and supporting equipment that were to be used at 3Y0K — representing an additional personal out-of-pocket expense of about $100,000. It took us over three months of hard work and dedication to complete everything. I also secured major sponsorships and equipment deals: • From Icom America, twelve IC-7610 transceivers and four IC-7300s. • From ACOM, twelve amplifiers. • I personally provided a full set of antennas for both camps, including fourteen Yagis, two verticals for 160 m, two 4-square arrays for 80 m and two for 40 m, verticals for 30 m, tribanders, dual-banders, filter sets for all bands, duplexers, triplexers, and more — plus nearly 30 waterproof cases, all purchased out of my own pocket. All this equipment was shipped to Norway for loading into the container that is now en route to Bouvet. I took full responsibility for ensuring the technical success of this expedition — and I fulfilled 100% of that responsibility. Over the past several months, I repeatedly asked Ken (LA7GIA) to share with the team a financial statement — including a cash-flow report and a profit-and-loss summary — for the 3Y0K expedition. My intention was simple: to ensure transparency for all team members and to organize a collective meeting to review the final preparations — and, if necessary, to coordinate financial or logistical

[QRT] 8Q7ZW – Maldives

[QRT] 8Q7ZW – Maldives

First of all I would like to say thank you to everyone who supported us in this situation. We appreciated a lot! Etihad cancelled our flights twice and we are still waiting how the situation improves. Last night we caught nice opening to NA. More then 300 NA in our log on 20m CW but many many dupes because they think we are 3Y0K. Please listen first then call. We are using livestream on Club Log in order to avoid dupes giving the chance to work other station. We have a problem to operate parallel on both radios because our Spiderbeam and vertical for low band is too close and they influence each other. We also made some NA QSO’s on 80m before our sunrise. We alternate our vertical for 80/160m probably we will be on Top Band this night. We are currently stranded in the Maldives. The situation in the world is making it difficult for us to return home.

Target: 213K or more

Target: 213K or more

It recently occurred to me, especially in these days of FT8 and FT4, that no group or individual has yet beaten the T32C QSO record of 213,000 QSOs set in 2011. A few have come very close – and remembering the T32C DXpedition did indeed last a month overall – but with the advent of FTx and how quickly QSOs can be made (including SuperFox mode) 213K QSOs still remains the target to beat for any future DXpedition. — The Rebel DX Group work anyone, anywhere and don’t care about dupes is definitely a contender. They were also active for approx three months from T30TTT recently on various modes and almost made the 200K QSOs mark with only 2 ops.

J51A – Guinea Bissau

In just under 20 days of operation we have logged 255,640 QSOs and 49,700 different callsigns. We want to say THANK YOU to everybody who helped making our trip such a great experience. First of all, the team around Jean and his wife Isabel from Bij Club – our location on Bubaque Island, Bijagos Archipelago, Guinea-Bissau. They perfectly understood our needs and were always willing to help and support us. The pile-ups were still going strong on the last day, so you may consider coming to this wonderful place for another DXpedition or maybe a Contest participation?

3Y0K – Bouvet Island DXpedition

Due to a number of factors, DX-WORLD has taken the decision to no longer publish nor post any information relating to the 3Y0K DXpedition on its website or social media platforms.  In time, we will explain why. For news updates, we suggest you follow the official 3Y0K website, EA1CS DX Info or Daily DX. Wishing the 3Y0K DXpedition the best of luck in their epic journey.

Most Wanted DXCC 2015 v 2025

A quick glance at the [globally] DXCC Most Wanted tables – using Club Log data – to compare 2015 v 2025. Within the last decade there’s been a lot of movers and shakers. However, only North Korea (P5) has retained top spot since 2015.  Interestingly, Johnston Island (KH3) is now #2 most wanted worldwide, while Bouvet 3Y/B has now dropped to #10.
