But many are sure to be surprised that in translation from the local language the name of this land is pronounced as "green country". And the island was christened in this way not as a joke at all. The fact is that there was once grass here, and in abundance. However, in the fifteenth century there was a mass icing of the territory of the largest island on the planet. As a result, almost 80% of the island was covered in ice. Grass cover remained only in a small southern part.

OX3LX – Tasiilaq Island, NA-151

NEWS UPDATE – Bo is presently QRV from Greenland until approx. 13th August. He has worked the first QSO’s on the QO-100 satellite, meaning that the continent North America and DXCC Greenland is now added to hams that hunt QO-100 QSOs. Details of set-up can be found here. OX3LX will upload the log regular to Clublog and to LoTW. Paper QSL can be ordered via QSL MGR OZ0J, and OZ0J prefer Clublog OQRS. All direct paper QSL card expect to be send medio September 2021 from Germany – if COVID-19 allows a one-day visit. JULY 18, 2021 – Bo, OZ1DJJ again plans activity from Tasiilaq Island NA-151 as OX3LX during July 28 to August 13, 2021. Main focus on 6 & 4m with some HF too. Locator: HP15eo.
