Burkina Faso Should you own call XT2 sign

Burkina Faso Should you own call XT2 sign

This is a short report on Harald's (DF2WO) experience using his Burkina Faso Callsign, XT2AW. Or should maybe start "your" own call sign with XT2 next time? The Callsign XT2AW was first issued between 1976-1983 whilst I had permanent residence in Ouagadougou and then again from 1994 for my sporadic radio activities. In recent years this has been primarily rather slow CW. On November 2015, around 5000 contacts had been made in CW, SSB and few in the digital modes: RTTY, PSK31 and JT65. It is to be noted that early in the morning around 06.00 h (07:00 h UTC) when the antenna was at 270 °, there were good conditions to JA, VK and ZL etc. Praise must be given to the discipline of Japanese and American OMs; however some Italian and Spanish stations often demanded a lot of patience. The problem was trying to get them to understand I was working '' up to 5 Kc''.

Burkina Faso is a country that fascinates with its national flavor. This small state in the western part of Africa is on the list of the poorest countries on the continent, nevertheless, there is a lot to see here. The untouched beauty of the African savannah is the main value of the country. There are 3 national parks and about 20 reserves of different scales on the territory of the country, where you can get acquainted with the rich flora and fauna of these places. Travelers from different countries come here to embark on a dangerous and adventurous safari tour.

[UPDATE] – Harald, DF2WO will again be active from Burkina Faso as XT2AW during May 6-19, 2026. Plans are to QRV on 20-6m using a Hexbeam, and 160-30m with multi-band dipole; SSB, FT8 & FT4. LoTW will be uploaded after the DXpedition ends. More info including new pictures here. (Recording below from 2022). [OCTOBER 18] – Equipment now back in the hands of Harald.  Result of complicated discussions with customs. Confiscated equipment back in my possession. Good if you know someone with further connections. However, things are currently changing (increasingly). Nothing is getting easier, and now some changes make me wonder if it will all be worth it for much longer.
