POTA LIVE ... best practice

POTA LIVE webapp is a browser-based tool that receives data through the public link provided by the POTA program for amateur radio.

Operation is not guaranteed and depends on many factors, such as proper data transmission and normal reception conditions.

A device capable of running a Chromium-based browser is required (Chrome or Edge for example, but many others work as well).

The active POTA stations are displayed with the following fields: CALLSIGN - PARK NAME - FREQ - BAND - MODE - TIME UTC - LAST HEARD - SPOTTER

Click on the Callsign to open its QRZ page. Click the small globe icon to open Google Maps for that park.

Radio (rig) connection

By clicking on the menu, you can select your radio type (only on devices with COM ports and a large display). You must also assign the required COM port to the browser session, connected to your rig. You need to set the baud rate and the Stop Bits value (normally 1, but some radios like the Yaesu FT-1000 use 2). Refer to your radio's manual.

If the connection is established (there are no guarantees, and the user is solely responsible for using their own hardware through the selected port), the radio will appear connected, and CLICKING ON A FREQUENCY will correctly tune the radio.
